Research Methodology

A research method is a specific data collection or analysis technique (e.g., interviews, surveys, regression analysis). Methodology is the philosophical and strategic framework that justifies why those methods are appropriate for your research questions and design. Methodology precedes and governs method selection.
The choice depends on your research question, not your personal preference. If your question asks "how many" or "to what extent," quantitative methods are likely appropriate. If it asks "how" or "why" something occurs, qualitative methods are more suitable. Mixed methods may be appropriate when your question requires both depth and breadth of understanding.
Sample size is governed by your research design, not by a universal minimum number. In quantitative research, adequacy is determined by power analysis. In qualitative research, data saturation — the point at which new data adds no new theoretical insights — is the appropriate criterion. Prioritise sampling strategy over sampling size.
